News!! The Call the Midwife cast take a break in filming series 8 to celebrate the official opening of the new Call the Midwife location tour!
The Historic Dockyard in Chatham, Kent has played host to many of Call the Midwife’s most iconic screen moments since the very first series in 2012. This year, the public museum and historic naval yard marks its 400th anniversary – and to mark this special year, Call the Midwife’s producers Neal Street have partnered with the Historic Dockyard to create the OFFICIAL Call the Midwife tour – which launches formally today!
The tour now features brand new material from the latest series, as well as props, costumes, sets and of course your very own costumed midwife guide!
You’ll be taken around the site where Chummy learnt to ride a bike – see the ship which Sister Evangelina and Trixie had to climb aboard to help the Captain’s Daughter give birth – as well as the dockside cellar where Nurse Crane and Reggie found a terrified Nigerian sailor with leprosy, along with many more memorable moments from the series!
Call the Midwife’s Executive Producer, Dame Pippa Harris said:
“The Historic Dockyard Chatham has been our home for many years and I’m delighted to be sharing it with all the wonderful Call the Midwife fans in celebration of its 400th birthday!”
Stephen McGann, who plays Dr Turner, said:
“I love filming at Chatham. It’s a place with such history, and it’s such a great location in which to recreate the feel of Poplar in the sixties. We’ve been very lucky over the years to be able to turn these wonderful streets and historic buildings into a vibrant East End neighbourhood – and now I’m delighted that our fans can come and see all those iconic places for themselves”
The Call the Midwife tour ticket allows you access to all The Dockyard’s galleries for the day meaning you can explore over 9 galleries, it’s 3 historic warships and the working Victorian Ropery that surround the “Poplar” streets.
The tour lasts for 90 minutes and is selling fast so don’t miss out on your chance to walk in the footsteps of history and movie magic!
We currently have 20% off Call the Midwife tour tickets – don’t miss out! Offer ends on Monday 7th May 2018
