Can you believe we are in the last week of February already?! Time is flying by and our calendar of events are growing by the week! We thought it would be a nice re-cap of what to expect here at the Dockyard this year… Have your diaries at the ready…
- Doc.Yard Secret Lab – until 1st May (weekends and school holidays only)
Young scientists experience a 45-minute hands-on, electrifying visit to the eccentric Doc. Yard’s Secret Lab in the company of equally eccentric assistant Bunsen. This hair-raising activity is taking place onsite inside No.1 Smithery – All included as part of your annual ticket.
- International Women’s Day – Sunday 12th March
Join us for a day to celebrate and support Women across the globe. Set in the beautiful surroundings of Commissioner’s House and Gardens, there will be activities and workshops all day. Tickets are £7 in advance online and £10 on the day
- Call the Midwife location tours – Running at weekends from 25th March – 22nd October
Led by your very own ‘midwife’ this guided tour visits areas of the dockyard that have been used as locations for the popular television drama series ‘Call the Midwife’. Tickets for tour and tea are available now!
- Nelson Mass – Wednesday 29th March
Join us here at The Royal Historic Dockyard Church on Wednesday 29th March at 7.30pm for an evening of classical music titled ‘Nelson Mass’ composed by Franz Joseph Haydn (1732 – 1809). Tickets available now!
- Festival of Steam & Transport – Sunday 16th & Monday 17th April
Full steam ahead for the best in traditional festival fun! Join us over Easter weekend for our Steam displays, classic/vintage cars displayed, FREE traditional steam funfair, live music, street acts… you will see an array of festival entertainment! Tickets available now! – Annual ticket holders get discount
- Pirates! Saturday 27th May – Sunday 4th June
Join us this May Half Term for some pirate fun on-board our very own Pirate ship! With The Dockyard themed and ready to fly the Jolly Roger – will you be brave enough to walk the plank! Yo Ho Ho! – All included as part of your annual ticket.
- Dutch Raid – Thursday 8th June – 3rd September
The Breaking the Chain exhibition at The Historic Dockyard Chatham vividly brings the Battle of Medway story to life with collections from The Royal Museum Greenwich, Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Dutch National Maritime Museum, the Michiel de Ruyter Foundation and the British Library. – All included as part of your annual ticket.
- Dutch/British Fencing Match – Saturday 17th June
Join us from 12- 6pm to see this spectacular fencing match between Tenterden Swords Fencing Club & Pallos Fencing Club. This will be held in our wonderful 3 Slip building. – All included as part of your annual ticket.
- Doc.Yard Summer Fun! – Monday 31st July – 3rd September
Having failed to time travel last year – the Doc has decided that maths is needed as well as science! The activities that Doc Yard will show this year will have a maths and measuring theme. Come and see what wonderful creations the Doc has invented this Summer! – All included as part of your annual ticket.
- Salute to the ‘40s – 16th & 17th September
One of Britain’s best vintage festivals! Become part of our 1940’s Family and be transported back in time for two full days of vintage spirit! With NEW and EXCITING additions for 2017 this event should NOT be missed. Tickets available soon! – Annual ticket holders get discount
- Half Term Halloween fun – 21st October – 29th October
Join us in October Half Term for some Halloween fun! Ghostly activities will be available for children and our restaurant will be themes with delicious treats! – All included as part of your annual ticket.
