National Walking Month

11 May 2018

Here at The Dockyard, we have a walking group, who meet every Thursday for a 75 minute walk with a trained Walk Leader – You can learn about the local history as well as getting a wonderful walk. Read about last weeks walk by a new addition to the group – Cleo the black Labrador.

Hello, I’m Cleo a 2 year old black Labrador and I like walking!  I hear its National Walking Month, which is every month for me, but I guess not all humans like walking as much as I do.  Today my owner took me on a special walk around Chatham’s historic defences (at least that what she calls them, I just think they have some interesting smells!)  Here I am outside The Historic Dockyard Chatham waiting for the rest of the pack.

We’re at the back of the pack today to make sure no one gets lost (does she think I’m a sheep dog?!).  Here we go through the Historic Dockyard at the start of our walk.

Now we’re heading towards Fort Amherst

We stop at the War Memorial, but I’m not allowed in and I can’t play with my ball either!

But our leader, Mike, tells the humans all about it so I think they’re happy.

Back at The Dockyard, and I’m ready for a lie down.  The humans have gone for coffee.

If you would like to join our walking group, please contact us for more information: 01634 333727. Simply meet outside the main Visitor’s entrance at Chatham Dockyard every Thursday for 9.45am.
