Join us from 12- 6pm to see this spectacular fencing match between these two friendly rivals. This will be held in our wonderful 3 Slip building.
This entertainment is on the same day as the Medway in Flames (the finale of the Battle of Medway programme) – we suggest after a day at the Dockyard to make your way over to see this evening event!
These two fencing clubs have been friends for 15 years or more. The English club is Tenterden Swords Fencing Club, founded in 1976 and going strong. Since then they have produced national and Commonwealth champions, a World veterans champion and numerous county champions. Currently they have an Olympian fencer, several county fencers, and act as a focus for fencers from as far away as Herne Bay, Deal, Maidstone and Hastings. Since 1979 we have run an international Open fencing competition which for several years now has taken place in March at the University of Kent at Canterbury. It was at this event that they first met up with the Pallos Fencing Club from Utrecht, and each year the Dutch come to Tenterden in the summer for a weekend with a club match and a lot of socialising!
