Back by popular demand, our Christmas Wreath Making Workshops are not to be missed.
Join the Master Ropemakers in the festival surrounds of Commissioner’s House. Bring your wreath making ideas, chose your colour scheme, get creative and learn how to make a unique festive wreath to hang proudly on your door.
The base of your Christmas Wreath will formed from rope made by our expert craftsmen and women on our historic ropewalk, using the same techniques used for producing the finest ropes for the Royal Navy, including Nelson’s VICTORY.
Please note the Historic Dockyard is closed to visitors and it will not be possible to explore the wider Dockyard on the day of your workshop.

The workshop will start with a welcome drink of mulled wine, tea or coffee and mince pie, before Alex Rowling, Managing Director of Master Ropemakers, guides you through the techniques for creating a traditional door wreath.
You’ll then take your place at the crafting tables and let loose to create your own wreath. Decorations will be provided, from foliage to ribbons and festive materials.
The workshops last for approximately 2 hours.

Afternoon tea Menu
A selection of freshly made finger sandwiches on white & wholemeal bread, including:
Smoked salmon and dill mayo
Roast turkey with sage and onion stuffing
Egg mayonnaise (v)
Brie and cranberry (v)
Hummus, roasted red pepper and carrot (v, ve)
A selection of individual quiches (v)
Plain and fruit scones, served with clotted cream and strawberry preserve
Mini cakes and pastries including rich fruit cake, gingerbread and chocolate orange bomb.
All served with a selection of teas and filter coffee.
