23 Aug 2023

Join Nick Ball, Collections, Galleries and Interpretation Manager, for an introduction to ship models.

Ship models have been made since at least the 5th Century BC, the acme of the craft was perhaps reached in mid-18th century England, when ornate models were regularly made to represent the finest warships of the Royal Navy. Owned by Royalty, Admirals, and important naval administrators, much about these models is still shrouded in mystery – who made them and why?
