Step into the shadows of the Historic Dockyard Chatham on a torch-lit ghost tour that takes you far beyond the everyday visitor experience. These exclusive after-dark tours uncover eerie tales and chilling truths from the Dockyard’s past, blending true accounts of historic deaths with spine-tingling stories shared by Dockyard workers through the years.
Our experienced guides will lead you through the towering Ropery buildings, where centuries of history have left behind unsettling echoes. Discover true encounters involving the mischievous Bobbin Boys (said to still play tricks on today’s Ropemakers) and listen for the phantom hoofbeats of spectral horses long after the workday has ended. From the quiet depths of the Spinning Rooms to the shadowy corridors, you will explore whether the ghostly women of the Ropery are still weaving their stories, long after the heavy machinery has fallen silent.

| Booking Information | Tours must be booked online. This is a separately ticketed event and not included in the annual Dockyard ticket. |
| Ages | The tour is suitable for over 18s only. |
| Accessibility | The tour takes in some spaces that are not usually open to visitors and are only accessible by steep stairs and steps. This might not be suitable for everyone. The tour will be primarily lit by torch light and at times your guide will encourage you to turn off your torch. Visitors are advised to contact us before their tour date to discuss any specific access requirements. Carers are free of charge, but must be booked in advance.
