HMS Cavalier

Join former crew member and volunteer David Adams for an exclusive talk and tour of HMS CAVALIER, sharing first-hand insights into the Royal Navy’s last surviving Second World War destroyer.

Running as part of National Volunteers Week 2026, this special tour offers a unique opportunity to step aboard the “Fastest Ship in the Fleet” with someone who served on her. Launched in 1944, HMS CAVALIER operated from the Arctic Convoys to the Far East, and now stands as The National Destroyer Memorial.

David’s background on board focused on the ship’s radios and radar equipment, giving him great insight into how the crew communicated and navigated. He will guide you through various areas of the destroyer, sharing personal memories of daily routines, camaraderie, and what life was really like at sea.
