In conversation with … David Hews, Lt. RN
07 Nov 2024

During HMS CAVALIER’s 80th birthday month, join former Royal Navy Lieutenant and Diving Officer David Hews for an in-conversation style talk with our Interpretation Officer, Paul Wright.
David served onboard HMS CAVALIER from 1970-72 as a Diving Officer during her last commission – in the Mediterranean, arctic and home waters.
Born and raised in Canterbury, David attended Kings School and entered BRNC Dartmouth in 1967. He served in the Royal Navy for 10 years, spending time on Chatham based ships including HMS KENT and HMS LLANDAFF. In 1973-74, he spent time in the NATO squadron and also commanding a patrol boat in Northern Ireland. David then went on to join the RNR London Division, while working in the newspaper business and then financial services.
David has recently been involved with HMS CAVALIER advising our Historic Ships team on the restoration of the Diving Store onboard.
The evening will be compered by Paul Wright, Interpretation Officer, Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust and there will be a question and answer session following the conversation.
