The NHS-UK Photography Competition

We’re delighted to once again showcase the winning and standout entries from National Historic Ships UK’s (NHS-UK) 2024 Photography Competition. Running since 2010, the competition forms part of NHS-UK’s wider Awards programme, which celebrates volunteer achievement, excellence in conservation, skills development and historic vessel outreach.

The theme on display is ‘True Colours’, with these inspiring photographs available to enjoy for a limited time in 3 Slip at The Historic Dockyard Chatham.

The NHS-UK Photography Competition is part of a wider Awards programme recognising volunteer achievement, excellence in conservation, skills development and historic vessel outreach. Awards are made at an annual ceremony with winners taking home a certificate and prize.  Learn the winners in their annual Awards film, premiering on the NHS-UK YouTube page on 19 November 2025.

ABOUT National Historic Ships UK (NHS-UK)

National Historic Ships UK (NHS-UK) is a government funded, independent organisation which gives objective advice to UK governments and local authorities, funding bodies and the historic ships sector on all matters relating to historic vessels in the UK.

It maintains the National Register of Historic Vessels which lists over 1,500 significant craft. It also manages the Shipshape Network, set up to regenerate traditional maritime skills, promote training initiatives, encourage regional activities and connect the sector.
