The Historic Dockyard Chatham spans 80 acres, has over 100 historic buildings and structures dating from the Georgian and Victorian periods to the present day, thus making it suitable for any period location over the past 200 years.
It provides the ideal location for your next shoot, be it a feature film, TV series, game show, pop promo or photo shoot. From a crew of two on a fashion shoot for a few hours to a crew of two hundred on a blockbuster film for several weeks, Kent’s Historic Dockyard Chatham not only provides the ideal film friendly location but also the space to accommodate your requirements.
Our commitment to filming goes beyond just providing a location. We work with you to solve issues and to make sure you achieve what you want to shoot. We understand that it’s often the small things that matter – like a separate power supply to plug the camera truck into or a fresh water tap for the caterers.
We also work closely with Medway Council, Kent Film Office and local companies to assist you in finding additional locations in the area to suit your needs.
We have plenty of onsite parking – not just for Unit Base but also cast and crew and SA parking requirements – there is no need to source separate Base and parking facilities once you have chosen your location.
Our two green rooms modern spaces, equipped with Wi-Fi, running water, a fridge and electrics. They can come with or without tables and chairs, and work well as crowd holding for younger cast members.
With over 700m2 of space to use, our costume area (split across two floors), is ideal for crews needing a holding area. The space is equipped with electric points, some tables and chairs, making it perfect to use for hair, make-up, costume or general crowd holding.
Our Steam Railway has a number of working Steam Tank engines and diesel locomotives that can be hired together with a crew who are used to working with film companies.
We have excellent security managed in-house 24/7 with CCTV – and we are more than happy to work with your chosen security company to control access.
We are just 50 mins by road from central London, as well as being served by high speed trains from St. Pancras. Nearby accommodation is also available – business hotel on site and several other hotels within a short drive.
Private and discreet site with good control of access within a walled and gated environment. With no road closure problems – being a privately run estate there are no further permissions needed.
Our team will be on hand throughout – from your initial booking through to final cut.
We work in conjunction with a local group who can supply all your SA requirements and have extensive experience in both period and modern day productions.
We have great relationships with local accommodation providers, such as Bridgewood Manor Hotel & Spa.
A “film friendly” location as designated by the Kent Film Office with a wide variety of locations, from residential to commercial to industrial – all on one site.
You’ll recognise The Historic Dockyard Chatham in many blockbuster movies and hit series.
