Live & Work in the dockyard
The Historic Dockyard Chatham is more than a museum and visitor attraction, it is also one amazing place to live and work.

LIVE & Work at the Historic Dockyard
a place like no other
The Historic Dockyard is proud to be the home to a thriving ‘mixed-use’ commercial, residential and educational community set within our 80 acre estate.
Chatham has been home to industry, manufacturing, design and innovation for some 400 years. Today, those trades continue to flourish and traditional skills such as ship building and carpentry sit alongside 21st Century innovations in digital communications.
The historic estate is home to over 120 businesses, employing over 1,000 people, ranging from high-tech design companies, management companies, solicitors and accountants to ship builders, sign writers and traditional craft businesses. All these businesses are housed in buildings ranging from properties that have been refurbished to a very high specification, to more traditional premises retaining their original character.
There are also 115 homes within The Historic Dockyard’s walls – in privately owned properties that range from Scheduled Ancient Monuments, Grade II Listed to modern apartments and townhouses.
