10 Things To Do with Under 10s

The countdown is on until the kids return to school. By now, new uniforms are hanging in the cupboard, pencil cases are filled with new stationary, and the kids are full of energy that needs burning off.
Here at The Historic Dockyard Chatham, we have number of activities that will entertain and excite them. So, join us for our 10 Things To Do with Under 10’s:
- Discover the Monsters of the Deep
Deep dive in to this year’s exhibition that puts Monsters, both fact and fiction, under the microscope. Legends, folklore and modern-day science combined in this captivating show. - Octonauts Deep Sea Adventure
Sound the Octo-Alert and join Shellington’s mission around the Dockyard. There are five mini missions to take part in and earn your sticker reward. - Join Doc Yard for Deep Dive: An Exploration of Underwater Worlds
Doc Yard will entertain and inform you with his summer science show where you will marvel at ‘The Bloop’, the loudest sound ever heard in the Ocean, plus much, much more. Plus, hands-on activities to take part in. - Get Creative in a Summer Workshop
Inspired by Monsters of the Deep exhibition, these free-to-attend workshops will inspire any budding artist. On 29 August, there is a British-signed (BSL) Octonauts themed session. - Go Stealth on HM Submarine OCELOT
Swing through the hatches and peer through the periscope of OCELOT as you experience what it would have been like for Naval Submariners. (Visits are on guided tours only, book your tour once you have arrived). - Pretend to be a Pirate on HMS GANNET
Ahoy Shipmates! Step aboard a sloop of the Victorian Royal Navy. You can’t climb the rigging whilst on board, but you can see what life was like for a Victorian sailor. - Try Your Hand at Rope-making
Be immersed in the historic craft of rope-making. Your guide will walk you through life as a ropemaker before the opportunity to take part in making your own bit of rope. - Experience the Sights and Sounds of a Working Dockyard
Discover life at Chatham Dockyard in the early 19th Century as you experience Hearts of Oak, the immersive audio-visual tour. You will follow in the footsteps of Master Shipwright, John North, and his Grandson. - Try to Solve the Mystery of the ‘Ship Beneath the Floor’
For any budding Sherlock Holmes, a visit to see the Timbers of NAMUR or the ‘Ship Beneath the Floor’ is a must! Can you solve the mystery? - Let Off Steam in the Play Areas
With three play areas, kids will have lots of fun exploring the different areas and burning off any leftover energy they might have.
Remember that your ticket to The Historic Dockyard Chatham lasts for a whole calendar year, so you can come back throughout the year and tick off another activity.
