From blockbuster films and TV Series to welcoming a group of skateboarders into the site for Samsung UK, The Historic Dockyard Chatham has seen it all over 2025.

TELEVISION

2025 was a big year for seeing The Historic Dockyard Chatham on the small screen.

SAS: Rogue Heroes

Series 2 of SAS: Rogue Heroes premiered on the 1st January 2025, and charts the creation of the famed special forces. The second series follows the British Army Special Air Service (SAS) during the European Campaign, including the liberation of Sicily, and their actions in mainland Italy. The SAS: Rogue Heroes production team filmed interiors and exteriors of HMS CAVALIER for episodes one and six and along Medway Gardens outside the Admiral’s Conference Room in episode six.

a cruel love: The Ruth ellis story

A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis story follows the story of Ruth Ellis, her lifestyle as a young nightclub manageress, her violent relationship with the man she then killed in cold blood, her arrest, trial, and subsequent legal battle to get her release before she was the last woman to be hanged in Britain.

Call The Midwife Season 14 and 2025 Christmas special

The Historic Dockyard Chatham has become synonymous with the BBC drama Call the Midwife. Many of Poplar’s external scenes are filmed here and this year is no different. In January, Series 14 broadcast on BBC1, saw the beginning of a new decade in Poplar. Set in 1970, chaos erupts as Isle of Dogs activists bid for independence. Amid the turmoil, the midwives work tirelessly to keep Nonnatus House running while addressing complex social and health challenges.

One of the highlights of Christmas Day television is the Call the Midwife Christmas Special, and this year was no different. Fans were in for a treat with specials airing on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Film

Mission impossible: the final reckoning

In this installment of The Mission Impossible saga, Ethan Hunt and the IMF team race against time to find the Entity, a rogue artificial intelligence that can destroy mankind.

the lost music of auschwitz

British composer Leo Geyer discovered 200 forgotten scores in the Auschwitz archives. This Sky Original follows as Leo and his orchestra bring this music to life culminating in a very special performance in The Historic Dockyard’s Tarred Yarn Store.

This year we unlocked the dockyard for a team of skateboarders for the ‘Drop in with Samsung’ campaign.

Where History Meets Hollywood

2025 also saw the launch of a brand new tour at The Historic Dockyard Chatham, where visitors can unlock the cinematic universe with our new, seasonal Film Location Tour.

The Historic Dockyard Chatham has served as an iconic backdrop for over forty years, gracing the screen in productions by giants like Warner Brothers, Universal Pictures, Sony Productions, and Netflix. Experience first-hand where some of TV and film’s favourite scenes were created, from high-sea adventures to dramatic historical re-enactments.

The new film locations tour allows visitors to venture into areas not open to the public and gain insider knowledge from our Dockyard crew who have worked with the productions.
