Create your own Autumn wreath

Hello October! Can you believe that Autumn is upon us?

From the heating being back on to autumnal walks, knitted jumpers and cosy meals by the fire – the hot chocolate has even made an appearance from the back of the cupboard. We are fully embracing this new season, and our team at Master Ropemakers have just the perfect weekend activity to help you bring a bit of autumn into your home.

At The Dockyard, the Victorian Ropery is one of our most visited and popular attractions and every winter we create beautiful hand-made Christmas wreaths using Chatham rope as their base (2020 Christmas wreaths are available in our gift shops).

This year, with more and more time being spent in our homes and the increased trend for home crafting, we’re handing a seasonal activity over to you: why not try your hand at at a DIY Autumn wreath?

An autumn wreath makes an eye-catching, Instagram-worthy feature in your home – why not add a little bit of history and use a rope wreath made on our 400 year old ropewalk?

Naked rope wreath made by Chatham's Master Ropemakers

Using our beautiful naked rope wreath as your template and base, you can create a delightful autumn wreath with craft materials – you could collect leaves, pinecones and acorns from your weekend walks.

Here are a few photos for inspiration:

Or, if you’re really after a full day of crafting, then why not try making these cute rope pumpkins?

For celebrity inspiration, see how Stacey Solomon & Mrs Hinch decorated theirs!

Naked rope wreaths are available to buy from The Ropery Gift Shop (in person or online), or give our team a call and we can send a wreath to you.

Simply add the decorations of your choice and voila! A beautiful wreath to keep your front door company until you’re ready to change it over to a Christmas wreaths.

Christmas Wreaths

2020 Christmas wreaths are now available online and from the gift shops at The Dockyard store.

If you would like to join us for one of our popular wreath making workshops, click here for all the details. For the first time, we are also offering virtual wreath workshops to help those who might prefer to stay at home or are unable to make it to us in Chatham.

Please share your masterpieces with us by tagging us in your photos @Dockyard.Chatham Good luck!

Your custom helps to keep the Ropery alive and we urge you to support local businesses during these challenging times.
