Introducing Dock Chat – The Official Podcast of The Historic Dockyard Chatham

As part of the Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust’s 40th anniversary celebrations, we are excited to announce the launch of our new podcast, ‘Dock Chat’. The podcast is hosted by John Robinson, an experienced radio presenter and dedicated volunteer at The Historic Dockyard Chatham.

John has contributed as a volunteer researcher at The Historic Dockyard for the past 10 years and plays an integral role within the team. He has also been active in local radio for 12 years, where he started as a presenter and has since taken on responsibilities in technical management and training new presenters.

In 2018, John established and continues to manage Rotary Radio UK from studios in Sittingbourne. The station boasts listeners from 165 countries and features its own podcast.

John Robinson commented: “I feel really privileged to be given the opportunity to share the magic of the Dockyard through the Dock Chat podcast.”

The first two episodes of ‘Dock Chat’ are now available to listen to on Spotify, Amazon, YouTube, and various other podcast platforms.

Episode 1 – Dock Chat with Pip Blackmore, Volunteer Coordinator

The Historic Dockyard Chatham is home to over 300 volunteers who contribute significantly to our thriving community. In this episode, we speak with Pip, our Volunteer Coordinator, who discusses her vital role in managing and coordinating volunteer efforts. Listen in as Pip shares insights about working with such a diverse group of people and the positive impact they have on the Dockyard.

Episode 2 – Dock Chat with George Hornby, Volunteer Researcher

In this episode we hear from George Hornby, Volunteer Researcher about his links and work at the Dockyard. He also tells a fascinating story about HMS Victory and ancestry.
