The Historic Dockyard Chatham hosts the signing ceremony of RNLI’s 200th Anniversary Pledge Scroll

Today (29 March 2024), The Historic Dockyard Chatham hosted the signing ceremony of RNLI’s 200th Anniversary Pledge Scroll at the RNLI Historic Lifeboats Collection.

The pledge promises a commitment to saving everyone they can, without judgment – staying true to Sir William Hillary’s vision when he founded the charity in 1824.

Lifesavers from across the UK and Ireland are joining together to sign the scroll to recognise all that the RNLI have achieved as they mark their special 200th anniversary year.

Stephanie Bigsby (RNLI Systems Technician, London), Eileen Allison (RNLI Hon. Treasurer and Souvenir Secretary, Medway) and Ken Sandercock (RNLI Chatham Historic Lifeboat Collection Volunteer) signed the historic pledge in front of RNLI volunteers and visitors of The Historic Dockyard Chatham.

The scroll is travelling through RNLI communities far and wide throughout 2024 to help inspire the next generation of lifesavers.
