A finale to remember for Salute to the ’40s

Lynnette Crisp checks over the 11,000 poppies have been hand-made by a community of volunteers which has gone on display at The Historic Dockyard Chatham this morning. Each poppy represents one of the 11,000 lives lost from the 142 Naval destroyers during the Second World War. This display coincides with the Dockyard’s Salute to the ‘40s event this weekend, which can been seen by visitors until Armistice Day.
