2026 Wedding Trends

From romantic regency influences to thoughtful personal details, 2026 is shaping up to be a year where timeless elegance meets meaningful individuality. As we grow ever closer to opening The Commissioner’s House & Gardens, Kent’s newest wedding venue, we’ve been exploring our favourite 2026 wedding trends predicted by industry experts.

Opening this July, our beautifully restored Georgian residence will become one of the most distinctive historic wedding venues in Kent. We hope these trending ideas inspire some of the first couples who choose to tell their love stories with us.

Bridgerton Backdrops

Hitched Trend Report

As the highly anticipated new season of Bridgerton returns to screens at the end of January, Bridgerton-inspired weddings are ready to take centre stage once again. Expect abundant, over-the-top florals, elegant regency silhouettes, and a sense of romance that feels both theatrical and timeless. As one of the most talked-about wedding trends for 2026, the 4th season of Bridgerton is already influencing couples’ mood boards as we look towards the summer wedding season.

As fans of the series will know, some of the very first episodes were filmed right here at The Historic Dockyard, with our historic buildings even hosting The Duke’s boxing ring. Just moments away sits The Commissioner’s House & Gardens, an elegant Georgian wedding venue where the architecture and setting feel as though they could have been lifted straight from the screen.

If you’re searching for a refined and romantic canvas worthy of a Bridgerton celebration, the newly restored Commissioner’s House is truly a “diamond of the first water.”

Handwritten notes

Hitched Trend Report & Pinterest Predicts

Personalisation continues to be at the heart of modern weddings and in 2026 it’s the subtle, thoughtful details that are making the greatest impact. Over recent years, we’ve seen signature cocktails, bespoke vows, and even wedding newspapers and websites. Looking ahead, couples are embracing handwritten invitations and personal notes as wedding favours, celebrating the charm of a personal touch.

This 2026 wedding trend comes alive at The Commissioner’s House, a historic venue with stories from the past woven into its walls. Uncovered by our team during the building’s restoration, this handwritten note dating back to 1905 is a reminder of the moments that have passed through this house before. For couples planning a wedding at The Commissioner’s House, small but meaningful handwritten touches offer a beautiful way to gently echo the past while creating something that feels entirely your own.

Vintage cakes

Hitched Trend Report

Vintage wedding cakes were a defining trend of 2025, and their popularity shows no sign of waning as we move into 2026. Rooted in traditional craftsmanship, these are wedding cakes that favour personality over restraint. Featuring fine piping, heart-shaped tiers, and generous adornments of bright gleaming glace cherries, these cakes feel joyfully indulgent.

These cakes will look stunning in The Orangery, the newest space for 2026 weddings at The Commissioner’s House. Filled with natural light and offering views of our beautifully landscaped gardens, it provides a setting that will enhance rather than compete with a statement cake.

Pared-back palettes

Pantone Colour of the year 2026

Pantone’s 2026 Colour of the Year, Cloud Dancer, is a soft, understated white, effortless to incorporate and endlessly versatile. While this 2026 wedding trend may not be groundbreaking, couples are increasingly opting for all-white palettes. Whether Cloud Dancer takes centre stage, or you incorporate it into a pared-back palette of muted tones, it offers a timeless foundation that allows other trends to shine. This subtle approach gives you the freedom to layer in texture, florals, and personalised accents without anything feeling overwhelming, resulting in a wedding aesthetic that feels both modern and enduring.

The classical architecture, heritage interiors, and beautifully maintained grounds of The Commissioner’s House provide a stunning backdrop for Cloud Dancer’s soft, timeless elegance.

Cabbage crush

Pinterest predicts

Pinterest has predicted that decorative cabbages will become one of the most unexpected wedding trends in floral design. Ornamental cabbages are the statement floral of 2026, with more couples opting for organic design over traditional arrangements. At first glance, it seems unconventional, yet there are plenty of ways to take inspiration from this trend, even if you want to keep the vegetables firmly on your guests’ plates.

We like imagine couples decorating the patio at The Commissioner’s Gardens in a cabbage-inspired colour palette of purples and greens or taking inspiration by using sculptural leafy foliage in their bouquets and centre-pieces.
