Hands-on activities for younger visitors

To help you get the best out of your visit, we have put together a list of some of the top things to do on your family day out.

Stay & Play

Let your kids’ imaginations come alive as they scramble over climbing frames, whizz down slides, or run free on the open grassy areas.

FREE ACCESS PLAY AREA

Located by our visitor entrance, this play area is free for anyone to enjoy.

It’s the perfect spot to burn off the last residual energy after a brilliant day at the Historic Dockyard before heading home in the car.

OUTDOOR PLAY AREA

Little adventurers can navigate the course: slide, jump and climb as they pretend to be pirates on the Seven Seas or escape from monsters of the ocean.

Perfectly located to break up your visit, pick up a snack in Wagon Stop or stop for a picnic. Toilets are located nearby.

*Dockyard ticket required.

INDOOR SOFT PLAY AREA

For our smaller visitors, we have a fun soft play area, located in our Wagon Stop canteen, alongside our Dockyard locomotive workshop.

On occasions, you may also see our Railway Volunteers at work carrying out maintenance on our locomotives.

Soft Play is open during Wagon Stop opening hours.

Please note: Soft play is occasionally closed for cleaning.

*Dockyard ticket required.
