Royal Dockyard Tour
Discover 400 years of maritime history through architecture, ships and people. Our guide can either on join you onboard your coach or take you on a walking tour through the Dockyard.
Women of the Dockyard
Dive into the untold stories of the women of the Dockyard, looking at the different roles women had over the past 400 years.
The Ropery
Be transported back in time during a Ropery Experience. Learn about the ancient art of ropemaking, its vital role in supporting Chatham’s shipbuilding and discover why our enormous double ropewalk is ¼ mile long.
You’ll also have the opportunity to get hand-on with our ropemaking machine, before exploring the breath-taking ropery buildings.
HM Submarine Ocelot
Get a taster for what life was like onboard a real submarine. Swing through the hatches and explore the last Royal Navy warship built at Chatham.

A big thank you to you and all your team at Chatham Dockyard for a wonderful group visit on Friday 9th June. Our French visitors loved the variety of things to see and do at the site and our UK visitors, some of whom had visited previously some time ago, were equally impressed. Thank you to Martha and Katharine on the coach and at the Ropery demonstration, the submarine guides, catering staff and reception staff as well as many others who made it such an enjoyable day. We were lucky with the weather of course and I think there is probably enough left to see for another visit in the future!

We obviously had a very special host in Sir Trevor at the Ocelot whom I have thanked personally but I wanted you to pass on our thanks to the reception, catering and exhibition staff.
