Arts Award at the Dockyard
We welcome groups to the Dockyard to take part in Arts Award projects led by our trained Arts Award advisers, or we can also visit you in your setting.
We focus on offering flexible and bespoke content inspired by the Historic Dockyard and have previously offered a broad range of topics such as photography, stop motion animation, visual arts and textiles. We can also provide support for your existing Arts Award groups through bespoke workshops tailored to your project, and support and advice with portfolios and moderation.
We have worked with a huge variety of groups, from whole school Arts Award days to smaller projects with Young Carers and Medway Virtual School.
For booking and inquiries, please contact us at learning@chdt.org.uk

What is THE Arts Award?
The Arts Award is a nationally recognized qualification that encourages young people to explore and develop their artistic talents across a wide range of disciplines.
It offers a flexible framework that allows participants to engage with the arts in a way that suits their interests, abilities, and aspirations.
Participants can choose from various levels of the Arts Award, each offering progressively challenging and rewarding experiences.
At the Discover level, participants are introduced to the arts through fun and accessible activities designed to ignite their creativity and curiosity.
The Explore level encourages participants to delve deeper into the arts, exploring new art forms, developing their skills, and gaining a broader understanding of artistic concepts and techniques.
The Bronze level provides participants with the opportunity to undertake more substantial arts projects, allowing them to showcase their creativity, initiative, and artistic vision.
The Silver level represents the pinnacle of the Arts Award journey, challenging participants to plan, execute, and evaluate ambitious arts projects, demonstrating their artistic maturity and leadership skills.

FEEDBACK
“I would say the staff are what made this an adventure. Learning in a real fun place is teaching which is above and beyond. I have lived in Medway for 12 years and have fallen in love with the Dockyard! Bacon rolls are a lovely addition. So much thought and care has been put into this, every child should get to have this opportunity.”

“We liked the fact that the Dockyard workers brought out our imaginative side and made us draw more than we usually would if we didn’t have to, and it made us realize that we can actually draw a bit better than we thought.”
