Are you looking for a unique gift or struggling to find that present for that person that seems to have everything? There’s never been a better time to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses, and shopping at The Historic Dockyard Chatham offers something a little bit different.
In the current climate many people are going above and beyond to provide support to those in need. Why not treat them to a Dockyard annual ticket gift voucher, a Call the Midwife experience or a unique gift made by the artisan Master Ropemakers in our Victorian Ropery? The perfect way to say thank you or simply to help put a smile on someone’s face.
Order and make payment for your gift voucher online, print the voucher from the comfort of your own home and present your special gift.
This voucher gives the recipient entry to The Historic Dockyard Chatham for 12 months (from the date of the first visit). This voucher includes:
It does not include entry to our Salute to the ’40s event (September).
The perfect gift for any Call the Midwife super fan! This voucher is presented an e-ticket for the Call the Midwife Official Location Tours at The Historic Dockyard Chatham (no date selection is needed at the time of purchase).
A phone number is provided on the voucher for the recipient to call to book the tour at a time that is convenient to them.
Printing your gift voucher from the comfort of your own home could not be easier. To make it extra special and to maximise the ‘unboxing’ experience, please see our ideas below on giving our vouchers:
Why not print off your vouchers on card instead of paper? You could also then present the voucher in a photo frame.
Decorate a shoe box or a gift box and fill it with tissue paper. Print off your voucher on card and hide it under the tissue paper. The box can then be wrapped and ready to give – they’ll have no idea!
Roll up the gift voucher and put it inside a balloon. Blow up the balloon (with helium if possible) et voila!
At the heart of The Historic Dockyard Chatham, Master Ropemakers maintains a process of ropemaking that dates back on this site for more than 400 years.
Our Ropery remains the oldest rope making facility in the UK. Why not take a piece of history home and purchase a special gift handmade by our master craftsmen and women? Every purchase made helps to keep the Ropery alive.
This is only a small selection of the products available, please visit the Master Ropemakers website for the full range.
We have designed and produced our seasonal wreaths to compliment any interior. Each wreath is made from manilla rope produced in The Ropery and decorated by hand. They come in three sizes: Small, Medium and Large. Personalised wreaths can also be requested.
The monkey’s fist knot is so named because it looks somewhat like a small bunched fist. The monkey’s fist knot is used as a weight on a heaving line, allowing mooring lines to be hurled between ship and dock. This has now proved a great knot for home products such as a door stop.
Our handcrafted dog leads are available in both 10mm and 14mm, 1 metre in length. With a chrome clip, our craftsman produce these bespoke dog leads using traditional splicing for the handle.
Our naked rope wreaths, made from Grade A manila, are manufactured using traditional techniques here at The Historic Dockyard. Perfect for creative projects and ready for you to decorate for each season, to your personal taste.
The COVID-19 crisis and the forced closure of our visitor attraction this year has inevitably had a huge financial impact on Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust.
As an independent charity we receive very little funding from government, meaning we are solely reliant on generating our own sources of income. Revenue from ticket sales, tours, corporate hire and weddings all contribute towards a substantial percentage of our annual income. Being the custodian of the most complete Dockyard from the Age of Sail is a privileged role but one that comes at a huge cost. The preservation work never stops – even when our gates are closed.
Your support through the purchase of tickets and gifts is one of the best ways to help us weather this storm. It is always very much appreciated.
