“Chatham Hemp,” also referred to as flax, takes its name from our historical site and is still made on the Ropewalk today.
Renowned for its durability and versatility, the 3 strand rope with its soft fibres and natural colour makes it the perfect choice for a range of applications, ranging from more traditional maritime uses such as ship rigging to more contemporary purposes like gym ropes, theatre pulleys, stair banisters and barrier ropes. It’s natural, non-toxic nature also makes it a great choice for producing our handmade pet accessories such as dog toys and dog leads.
