Christmas Wreath Making Workshops

5 Dec 2020 - 6 Dec 2020

Christmas Wreath Workshops

... bring a piece of this history into your home this Christmas

Back by popular demand, our Christmas Wreath Making Workshops are not to be missed.

Join the Master Ropemakers and spend the afternoon either in the festive surrounds of Commissioner’s House or, for the first time, virtually, in the comfort of your own home. Bring your Christmas wreath ideas, choose your colour scheme, get creative and learn how to make a unique Christmas wreath to hang proudly on your door.

The base of your Christmas wreath will be formed from rope made by our expert craftsman on our Victorian ropewalk, using the same techniques used for producing the finest ropes for the Royal Navy Ships including, HMS Victory.

(please note that The Dockyard will be closed for visitors at this time of year, therefore the site is not open to explore)

Christmas Wreath Workshop (in person)

Saturday 5th December 2020

The workshop will start with a welcome drink of tea or coffee and mince pies before Alex Rowling, General Manager of Master Ropemakers, guides you through the techniques for creating a traditional door wreath.

You’ll then take your place at the craft tables and let loose to create your own wreath for your home. Decorations will be provided, from foliage to ribbons to festive materials provided by the Ropery Gift Shop.

The workshops start at either 11am or 3pm in Commissioner’s House and last for approximately 2 hours. The sessions are £45 per person, which includes all materials for the wreath and tea/coffee.

For your safety, and in line with the latest COVID-19 government guidelines, the following procedures will be in place:

  • Current COVID-19 guidelines allow us to operate the workshop with a maximum of 20 visitors.
  • Bookings will not be accepted from groups of 6 or more.

  • There will be regular sanitising of touch points throughout Commissioner’s House
  • We will provide additional sanitiser stations.
  • There will be one-way systems in place throughout the venue.
  • We have fully risk assessed our workshop to ensure COVID-19 safety.
