The Ropery Restoration

Chris Jones Head of Shipkeeping & Heritage Engineering talks about the behind the scenes work that keeps these historic machines running.

The Ropery is a working museum, rope is still produced commercially by the Trust’s rope making company, Master Ropemakers Ltd. The machinery, much of which was commissioned in 1854 needs repairing from time to time.
