Don’t forget our tickets are valid for 12 months – tickets are activated on the day of first visit

Guided Tours

We have 2 guided tours that are included in our entry tickets. Please book upon arrival at the Plan Your Visit area before you go onto site.

The Ropery:

  • Victorian Ropery Tour – Weekdays & Weekends 
  • Live Demonstrations -Weekdays only
  • Rope Walk Talk – Weekend Only 

HM Submarine Ocleot

  • 15 mins – Walk through tour 
  • 30mins – Guided tour 


Discover The Dockyard Talks are new for 2019! These talks are presented by our staff & volunteers on an array of subjects.. This is at no extra cost to attend, and is booked upon arrival.

This June we have 2 talks:

  • Wednesday 5th June – Our Visitor Experience Duty Manager,  Antonio Di Benedetto presents one of his favourite gallery objects and the stories behind it: Dazzle Ships
  • Wednesday 26th June –  Graham Gash, Site Manager talks about the The Dockyard Fire – a firefighter’s perspective. Graham served 40 years in the Kent Fire Brigade.

Health walks

Every Thursday at 9:45am, join us in a walk around the local area.

Railway weekend

Join us this weekend where our locomotives will be steaming through the site! Chatham Historic Dockyard Railway has just under 1 mile of line to operate demonstration trains and It’s the perfect photo opportunity to get up close to our railway and speak to our team of volunteers.

Commissioners Garden

Discover our real ‘secret garden’ This little gem is tucked behind Commissioners House – walk to the ropery and cross the road to your left and you’ll see a wooden gate. Follow the gravel path and explore these beautiful gardens.

Top tip- pickup a homemade sandwich and cake from the wagon Stop cafe and have a picnic! It’s the perfect place to switch off and relax in these beautiful grounds.
