The Building of the Ship

An exclusive opportunity to join The Historic Dockyard Chatham for an evening of music in partnership with the University of Kent.

This performance will be an hour-long sequence of words and choral music, centred around maritime history and the construction of a 19th-century sailing ship. This concert will be set in the award-winning Command of the Oceans galleries, amidst the story of The Historic Dockyard’s 2,500 strong workforce during the Age of Sail, and a scale model of Nelson’s flagship, HMS Victory.

Tickets for this event are strictly limited and only available in advance.

Performance Times

The performance is due to commence at 7:15pm.  Doors to our main visitor restaurant open at 6:30pm for pre-performance refreshments.


We will be offering a selection of hot food options before the performance in our Mess Deck Restaurant.

Car Parking and Travel

Car Parking will be available at The Historic Dockyard Chatham at no cost on our main visitor car park.  The Historic Dockyard Chatham is a 20 minute walk from Chatham Train Station and is served by a number of local bus routes – please check the Arriva webstie for further details.
