Step into the shadows of the Historic Dockyard Chatham on an immersive, torch-lit ghost tour designed to take you beyond the standard visitor route. Uncover chilling truths and eerie legends from across the site’s past as our guides share verified accounts of historic deaths alongside supernatural stories passed down by Dockyard workers over generations.
Uncanny tales of land and sea await as you journey around the shadowy slipways before stepping aboard our historic ships after dark. Feel the shift in atmosphere as you hear about the infamous “Half man” of HMS CAVALIER and the mysterious red-headed ghost of HMS GANNET, well known to the boys who once called the vessel home. These historic ships may have retired from active service, but some of their former inhabitants do not seem to have gotten the message.

| Tour Length | 90-minute walking tour. |
| Booking Information | Tours must be booked online. This is a separately ticketed event and not included in the annual Dockyard ticket. |
| Ages | The tour is suitable for over 18s only. |
| Accessibility | The tour takes in some spaces that are not usually open to visitors and are only accessible by steep stairs and steps. This might not be suitable for everyone. The tour will be primarily lit by torch light and at times your guide will encourage you to turn off your torch. Visitors are advised to contact us before their tour date to discuss any specific access requirements. Carers are free of charge, but must be booked in advance. | Clothing | Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. The Dockyard is next to the River Medway and exposed to the wind. |
